AFRICAN AMALGAMATION
GENERAL NORTHY’S ADVICE. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, Oct. 16. General Northy, who commanded the Northern force in the East African campaign in the late war and was afterwards Governor of Kenya, was the guest bf honour at a dinner celebrating the campaign, lie expressed the view that some sort of amalgamation of the East African territories was bound to come. Kenya, Uganda, Tanganyika and Zanzibar, he thought, would be able very Bhortly to come to some understanding. It was obvious that the working of posts, telegraphs, police, garrisons ami Customs could be properly arranged. It would be economical, and he certainly hoped it would be done. A mere difficult question was what Southern and Northern Rhodesia and Kyassaiand were going to do. Personalty ho would like to see the two Jlhodesias and Nyassaland joined together as soon as they could decide, and he would look forward in a quarter Of a century to a Central African Dominion, then the old motto about unity being strength would be proved there.
