DISTRICT NEWS.

TAHOHA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) After the mildest winter experienced , here for many years, we are being favoured with an equally good sping, and after a spell of beautifully line weather, which lasted for about three weeks, the district was rewarded with warm rain on Friday evening and Saturday morning, which was welcomed by all, as tanks were nearly empty, and gardens and pastures were feeling the need of rain. The stock for this time of the year are looking exceptionally well, owing no doubt to the past good season, and the percentages of lambs seem to be rathet better than usual, although the: n-rve been many deaths amongst the iambi of a few weeks old of causes unknown. The Farmers’ Co-op. held their annual cattle fair at Kahuratahi on the 10th hist., when there was a good yarding of stock, which were keenly competed fot by buyers from all over Taranaki and tiie King Country. The majority of the big cattle went to Waverley. The Farmers intend holding several sales throughout the district during the summer months. The Ttihora Tennis Club officially opened their courts on Saturday, lot'll iust., when there was a good attendance from \\ hanganiomona, Kohuratalii and Tangarakau clubs, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent by tennis enthusiasts. When tennis could no longer be played, owing to the light failing, all adjourned to the hall, where a dance was held, which was very successful, socially and financially. The lady members deserve recognition for the manner in which they carried out their part to make the occasion the success it was. Music was supplied by Messrs. R. A. Shewry, W. Jarnos, W.
