STALIN'S POLICY ATTACKED TROTSKY’S MEN EXPELLED ALLELED BRITISH SPIES By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyrig-ht. Received Oct. 18, 7.35 p.m. London, Oct. 17. The Times’ Riga corespondent states that the meetings following M. Bukharin’s speech have been very stormy. The Opposition’s decision openly to do battle with the Stalinites was demonstrated by violent speeches against ruling cliques and trade union pol: y. The speeches accused Stalin and Bukharin of using the trade unions to benefit State trusts and syndicates, and of sacrificing a possible .increase in wages to make the enterprises yield profits.
The conference issued a declaration stigmatising as shameful that trade unionists were trying to disrupt the Red unions.
. The Riga, eorrespoudcut of the Times reported on October Fl that M. Bukharin informed the Moscow Trades Union Conference that the Soviet was introducing a new economic manoeuvre to counteract the success of the Stalinist manoeuvre, which was causing the relaxation of Soviet regime and increased prosperity of private traders. For this reason Bolsheviks must renew their advances against private capital. It was intended to utilise the poor peasantry’ to crush the new bourgeoisie and private traders. Received Oct. 18, 7.35 p.m. London, Oct. 17.. The Communists’ expulsion of heretics continues, and includes six additional prominent Communists. London, Oct. IG. ’ The Moscow’ correspondent of the Observer says that apparently Trotsky and Zinovieff and their party are nearing a climax in their dispute with the followers of Stalin. The latter have expelled 50 more supporters of Trotsky froni the party on the grounds that they’ were organising conspiratorial groups, violating all the rules of party discipline and threatening to create a second party’ hr the country. Received Oct. 18, 7.35 p.m. London, Oct. 17. The Times’ Riga correspondent states that, apparently not satisfied with tht trials'and shootings which followed the Anglo-Russian brea%?, the Soviet now announces the discovery of a number of espionage organisations connected with British diplomatic circles now missing from Moscow. The first of these begins Shortly. The victims include, sons of the Moscow ex-millionaire Koropakolf.
The legal adviser to the Revolutionary Military Council, in an announcement, states the prisoners collected information for the British commercial attache C'harnoc-k.
