AIRMAN PLANS TO SEARCH ■ •! START TO BE MADE YESTERDAY. LITTLE HOPE ENTERTAINED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.— Copyright. Received June 1, 7.15 p.m. New York, May 31. A monoplane designed to search for the missing airmen Nungesser and Coli, is scheduled to hop off on June !• Following rigid tests the pilot, S. Cotton, plans to fly direct to Channel Head, Newfoundland, to which extra pontoons and food will be shipped by a steamer. Cotton expects to make this his headquarters, from which he will fly daily in an attempt to pick up some clue of the missing men. He intends to cover thoroughly a section of the country in which it is believed the flyers were forced to land. The 'plane is powered with a 200 horsepower Wright Whirlwind engine, similar to Captain Lindbergh’s. Early tests indicated that the motor would be able to withstand the terrific strain to which it would be subjected. Despite public enthusiasm the mission is feared to be hopeless.
