THE ARBITRATION COURT
CHANGE IN THE PERSONNEL MR. W. SCOTT TO RETIRE SHORTLY THIRTY YEARS’ SERVICE ENDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Th© statement published in Christchurch that Mr. VV. Scott, employers’ representative in the Arbitration Court, is resigning, is declared by Mr. Scott himself to be ‘‘somewhat premature.” “It is true,” says Mr. Scott, “that I shall be shortly retiring from the Court, but not on account of failing health and advancing years. I have never been in better health. I have been connected with the Court for thirty years, twelve as an advocate and eighteen as a member of the Court. When I retire, it will be owing to the continual travelling, of which I am getting tired, and to take up a position in Wellington which will give me more home life.” It is reported that Mr. G. T. Booth, of Christchurch, will succeed Mr. Scott as the employers’ representative. Mr. Booth has been interested in the problems of the employer for many vears past, both as a member of the Employers’ Association and as a large employer of labour. In years gone by he gave considerable time to public affairs and was a former Mayor of Sydenham. He is 69 years of age and is managing-director of Booth, Macdonald and Co., Ltd.
