HEAVY RAIN IN KING COUNTRY
FLOODS NEAR TE KUITI. WATER COVERS MAIN ROADS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Te Kuiti, May 31. The effects of the heavy rains of the last two days is shown in the flooded rivers. The water is across the -road on the New Plymouth road, eight miles from Te Kuiti, and is rising. Service cars are connecting on both sides of the flooded area by drays. The water was still rising this morning. The Mangaokewa River through the town is flooded and the esplanade is under water. At Hangatiki the station is surrounded by water and town areas generally. The through service to Waitomo is uninterrupted. On the Te Kumi Road there is six inches of water on the road near the racecourse. The rain has now stopped and the glass is rising.
