FRENCH NAVAL VISIT
GUESTS OF THE ADMIRALTY. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, May 30. A French naval squadron reached Spithead at midday in brilliant weather on a five days’ visit at the invitation of the British Admiralty and the municipality of Portsmouth. The ships were greeted by thousands of spectators ashore and afloat, and on reaching their allotted positions fired a salute, to which the shore batteries replied. This is the first visit by a French squadron since the war.
