CONTROL BOARD ELECTION

MR. HINE AT INGLEWOOD. Despite the cold and rough night, a fair number were present to hear Mr. Jas, Hine at Inglewood last night. Mr. Spurdie presided. The candidate spoke on similar lines to his addresses elsewhere. He laid particular stress upon the fact that the question at. issue was whether individual companies would market their own produce next season, or whether it would still be handled by the board. Ej pointed out that Mr. Forsyth, in his speech at Eltham, had said that by the “moderate control,” which Mr. Forsyth supports, he meant that “the board would make allocations to importers according to their capacity to handle the produce.” From this it was evident that Mr. Forsyth’s intention was that the board should do the marketing. A resolution was passed expressing confidence in Mr. Hine’s candidature and pledging those present to support him at the ballot.
