Following on a large volume of trade yesterday with the Continent, wheat cargoes opened firm at an advance of 3d to sd, but owing to a lack of British buying, the ptice relapsed to late rates. The cargo by the Vertiulia is quoted at.' 53s 9d. Parcels advanced 3d by the Ulyssis at Liverpool or Glasgow, to 54s 6d. Liverpool futures are quoted as follows:—March, 16s 4d per cental; May, 10s 0 7-8 d; July, 10s 6 3-Bd. The spot trade is slow. Australian, ex-store, being quoted at 575. ’ Flour.—The market is quiet. Australian, ex-store, 43s 6d. Oats—-There is a fair demand. A grade gartons 31s, Australian algerians 28s 6d. Peas and maples are finding small business. Tasmanian, 108 s to lifts, New Zealand, 100 to 105 s. Blues are firm in the face of a good demand. Tasmanian 360 s to 4405, New Zealand being quoted at the same figures. New Zealand beans are quoted at 475. T , gs are very \ 11, with Australian at 15s to 16s. There are plentiful supplies of English new-laids in London at 20s, while Belgian new-laids are quoted at 17s. The butter market is quiet and steady. New Zealand controlled, 172 s to 1745; stored, 166 s to 168 s; Australian choicest salted, 168 s to 1725; unsalted, scarce at 174 s to 176; Danish, 178 s. The cheese market is firmer. New Zealand, 93s to 955. Australian, 93s to 945. The Bradford tops market has an extremely confident tone, with a fair inquiry, though there is not much actual business. Passing quotations are very firm at sixty-fours, 45d; sixties, 42d; fifty-sixes, 31Jd; fifties, 24Jd; forty-sixes, 20Jd; forties, 19Jd, MELBOURNE MARKETS. Melbourne, Jan. 7. Wheat.—Nominally about 5s 3<l. Flour.—Old, £l4 Is, new, £l3 10s, with 5s cash concession. Oats.—Milling 2s lOd, feed 2s Bd. Barley.—English 4s4d, Cape 3s 6d to 3s 9d. Potatoes. —£14 to £l5 10s.
