SANDERS CUP CONTEST
BETTY REPRESENTS CANTERBURY By Telegrapb.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The fourth Sanders Cup trial at Lyttelton to-day ended sensationally, the yaeht Betty fouling the Usher, which was overtaking her, almost at the finishing line. The Usher won the race, Linnet 11. being second, Betty third and lona fourth. Only Imin 47sec separated the first and last boats. The wind was very light and flukey, changing from south-west to north east. No. 2 course was sailed. The fifth race of the trial series was sailed this alternoon, the Betty winning by three minutes from the Usher. This gave the Betty her fourth win, and no further races will be necessary. The Betty will be the Canterbury representative boat in the races in February.
