MANDATES COMMISSION
THE DISPUTED QUESTIONNAIRE. DISCUSSION IN COMMONS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Dec. 14. la the House of Commons, replying to Captain Wedgewood Benn (Liberal, berlain for his vigorous onslaught on the Leith), who criticised Sir Austen ChainMandates Commission’s questionnaire, the Secretary for the Colonies, Mr. Ormsby Gore, speaking for Sir Austen Chamberlain, said it was essential, if the Mandates Commission required the amplest information as to what was going on in mandated territories, that the questionnaire should be immensely improved. Otherwise there was a danger that reports, instead of truly picturing the life of the mandated communities, might be lost in a mass of meticulous detail. .The British Government never refused information and intended to fulfil the duty of presenting reports each year, and to co-operate in every way with the commission. The matter was then dropped.
