VICTORIAN STRIKE
POSITION CAUSES ANXIETY. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Melbourne, Dec. 14. Following the failure of an attempt by the Trades Hall Council to persuade the strikers at the Yallourn works to resume their duties, active preparation is being made in Melbourne to meet the position wlrch will arise when the main Yallourn power house is closed at the end f the week. The p sition is causing grave conce n to industrial organisations, as it is estimated that 25,000 workers will be immediately affected. Altogether 75,000 workers in Victoria are dependent upon electricity for employment. Fears arcfelt that the majority of these i ’ll be rendered idle if the dispute continues.
