MR. COATES IN IRELAND
WELCOME AT BELFAST VIEWS ON CONFERENCE EMPIRE DEBT TO ENGLAND a By Telegraph—Brea. Awn.—Copyright. London, Dec. 12, Sir James Craig cordially welcome! Mr. J. G. Coates and his wife at Belfast station. Members of Cabinet and ft large gathering of the public attended. A guard of honour, provided by the Ulster Constabulary with a band, was drawn up on the platform. Mr. and Mrs. Coates proceeded to Stormont Castle, where they lunched with Sir James Craig. Mr. Coates in the afternoon opened a bazaar. He said the Imperial Conference was a success. It had cleared away many difficulties and misunderstandings. The delegates wotihl return to the Dominions and urge their own people to build up a stronger Empire. The Dominions were grateful for the assistance rendered during their infancy. They could walk now unassisted, hut were anxious to repay their debt and to show gratitude to the Motherland. Mr. Coates visited Londonderry, where he was greeted by Sir Janies Craig. Joybells pealed from the cathedral. He * returned to Belfast in the evening.
