PETROL STATION WRECKED
MOTOR LORRY OUT OF CONTROL. Auckland, Dee. 10 A petrol station at the corner of Wellesley Street and Rutland Street was wrecked this afternoon by a lorry fully loaded with electric equipment which got out of control near the intersection of Wellesley Street and O’Rorke Street. The lorry was ascending the hill when engine trouble occurred. The lorry became unmanageable, and when it began to back down Wellesley Street the driver, a youth of 17 named James Mills, of East Street, Papakura, jumped clear. On the way down the grade the lorry gathered momentum, narrowly missed a tram car, and was travelling at a high rate of speed when it struck another lorry, and then crashed into the petrol station. The driver, whose left wrist was injured, was attended by the fit. John Ambulance. The lorry was owned by Turnbull and Joner
