TARANAKI STOCK MARKET. Nervton King, Ltd., report as follows: At Urenui on October 26 we held a bull fair in conjunction with the usual fortnightly sale. The yards were taxed to their utmost with cattle, no sheep being yarded. We offered 30 pedigree and grade bulls and sold the lot, competition being keen throughout- The pedigree Jerseys on behalf of Air. Freeth realised up to 33 guineas and on behalf of other vendors pedigree yearlings aud two-year-olds from 10 to 18 guineas. Three-year-old grade -Jersey bulls sold up to £l4 10s and yearlings up to £lO. We also had a large entry of dairy stock, for which there was steady competition and prices appeared favourable .with late sales. Good springing heifers made from £7 10s to £l2, small heifers £4 to £6, and dairy cows up to £lO 10s. A very large entry of store cattle came forward and sold well, the following being the principal quotations: Light fat cows £5, £7; forward conditioned cows and heifers £4 19s; young store cows in fair condition, 'K, £4 3s; 3-year-old empty P.A. heifers £4; 2-year-old empty Jersey heifers £4 7s, £4 10s; 15month Jersey heifers £3 16s, £4 12s; 15-month Shorthorn heifers £2 10s; good half-draft farm horses £2B, £24, £2O; woaner pigs 17s (id, 265. On the same date at Inglewod we conducted our annual bull fair, when 35 bulls came forward, 30 of which were sold. Although prices were not high competition was steady. The bulk of the Jersey bulls made from 10 to 17 guineas, and grades made up to £l2. At Stratford on October 26 we report a good yarding of store cows and yearling heifers, and prices on a par with those ruling at earlier sales. Boner cows made from 30s to 50s; young sound CO',VS £2 10s, £3 ss; meaty cows £3, £4; fat cows up to £7 10s; yearling heifers, good quality, £4 las; Jersey cross heifers £1 19s, £3 8s Gd. We yarded a fair number of cows and heifers in the dairy pens and there was a fair demand for quality cattle. Calved, cows made from £a 10s to £lO and. springing heifers £1 10s, £9 10s. On October 27, we held our bull fair at Stratford, some sixty animals com ing forward and meeting with good demand. No fewer than 50 were sold under the hammer. Two-year-old pedigree bulls averaged about 16 guineas. Yearlings averaged about 12 guineas and aged animals up to 1(1 guineas, grade bulls making from 7 to 12 guineas. At Inglewood on the same date a good entry camo forward in both the store and dairy pens, .several pens of sheep, mostly ewes and lambs, also being yarded. Ewes and lambs made 325; shorn full-mouth ewes -with lambs 21 a* lid; ewes and lambs, all counted, 19s. There was a very large entry of 15month heifers, and the competition for them, although not spirited, was steady and most of the lines were sold. Other classes made late rates. Good quality yearling Jersey heifers made £4 as, £510s; 15-month Jersey-cross heifers £28s 6d; small mixed coloured heifers 30s to 355; yearling steers £2 8s Gd; fat cows £5 4s to £6 10s; fat heifers £7 17s Gd; forward conditioned cows £3 15s to £4 17 s 6d; light stores and boners at late rates. The offering of dairy cattle did not include anything very choice, but there was a fair inquiry and a' complete clearance resulted. Best heifers made up to £8 10s and dairy cows . £B. At Rahotu on October 28, despite a very rough day, the yards were completely filled and a good sale resulted. A bull fair was held in conjunction with the sale, and we desposed of 20 bulls under good competition. Pedigree Jerseys made 13% guineas and grade Jerseys up to £l2 10s. Best quality dairy heifers made £7 10s to £8 15s; dairy cows up to £8 10s; 15-month Jersey heifers £5 2s to £4 14s 6d; 20-month Jersey-cross heifers £2 17s 6d to £3 15s; small heifers 30s to 40s; yearling steers 2s, £2 17s, £3 ss; 2-year empty, heifers £3 3s to £4 10.?; three-year-old empty fattening heifers £3 15 to £3 19s.
