AMATEUR DRAMA.

INTEREST IN NEW PLYMOUTH

A SOCIETY FORMED.

At a well attended meeting held at the Soldiers’ Club in New Plymouth last night, it was unanimously decided to form a New Plymouth amateur dramatic or play acting society. The formation of rules, etc., and the details are to be discussed at a future meeting.

The following officers were elected: Pre sident, Colonel C. H. Weston; committee, the president, C. H. Weston, J. C. Nicholson, hex Brewster, and Kurcher, and Messrs. J. H. Sheet, E. V. Conway, L. Etherington, and Lealand; treasurer, Mr. A. L. Moore; secretary, Mr. L. J. List.

Mr. I>. Etherington presided. In introducing the convenor, Mr. E. V. Conway, the chairman gave a brief summary of the possibilities o-f amateur acting in New Plymouth, and expressed the hope that the enthusiasm shown in the initial attendance would .prove to be a good indication of the society’s future. Mr. R. Conway then outlined his policy, mentioning that he hoped to produce a good modern play. With the wealth of talent offering, he already felt assured of success.
