SUCCESS OF PROSPECTORS. .By Tdegrapli.—Press Association. Dunedin, Sept. C. A report from Cromwell to-night states that the Shoiover has backed tho Kawarau up some nine inches. Prospecting on the Natural Bridge claim# the workers secured with a dish two and a half ounces of gold, the largest piece weighing 6dvvt. Good sample# amounting to three-quarters of an ounce are reported from several other claims. Three-quarters of an ounce was got out of tho ‘‘Golden Bed.” The Vogel’# Vision Co. are putting through a likely looking wash. It is stated by a competent miner that no virgin ground has yet been unI covered l>y the damming of the lake and ithut a deep overburden exists.
