A FEW RIDDLES.
Ask Daddy and Mummy these riddles—but be sure and learn the answers first! What is the quickest way to widen a road?—To a dd the letter B, and make it broad. What is the difference between a hen and a musician? —One lays at pleassure, and the other plays at leisure. What is the most indigestible supper a man can have!—To bolt the front door the last thing at night. Why is a sheet of postage stamps like distant relations? —Because they are only slightly connected. What was the only animal that strayed out of the ark? —The reindeer (rain, dear). When are soldiers stronger than elephants? —When they carry a fortress. Why is a girl mending her stockings an extraordinary sight ? —Because her hands are where her feet should be. Why does a cook never make a square pudding! —Because she wants it to go round. What is it that we often catch, but never see?—A passing remark. What is the centre of gravity?—The letter V. What is the difference between an estate agent and a necktie? One is agent for property and the other a proper tie for a gent. What weapon does the earth most closely resemble?—A revolver.
