FUMES OF BRANDY VAULTS.
FIREMEN IN DANGER. London, April 19. Four firemen were rendered unconscious and many were affected by fumes during a fire in underground brandy vaults in Tooley Street. The emoke was so dense that very powerful electric lights had to be hastily installed, while the firemen, even though working in smoke-helmets, were able to remain in the vaults only a few minutes. This outbreak followed five fires in London back streets since last night, while there have been an unusual number throughout London during the last tew vzeeks. It is believed that many have been due to lighted matches or paper having been flung in windows and doorwavs.
