NEW PLYMOUTH SITTING. A DISORDERLY NATIVE. “I know nothing about it; I don’t remember,” said Albert Hau, a Maori, in the Police Court yesterday morning, when charged before Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., with disorderly behaviour at the Okato Hotel on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to the use of obscene language, however. “He made himself objectionable; Mrs. Brooke remonstrated and he put his fingers to his nose,” said the licensee, Charles Edward Brooke, in evidence. “I ejected him and there was a scuffle in the road. Both of us fell over.” Evidence was given by Constable W. Brenehley, of Rahotu, who was called to the hotel about 5.10 p.m. on the day in question, and took Hau in charge. Hau was fined £5 for using obscene language and a similar penalty was imposed for disorderly behaviour in the hotel bar. On another charge of disorderly conduct in a publie place he was convicted and discharged. A prohibition order was made against him. OTHER CASES. A fine of 20s, with 7s costs, was imposed on Frederick Roebuck for driving a motor-lorry in New Plymouth when the weight exceeded six tons. A similar penalty was imposed on Tom Harold Bates, who rode a motor-eyele without lights on the Devon Road after sunset. The informations were laid by Mr. R. Day (borough inspector) and Mr. R. Aroa (county inspector) respectively. One month’s imprisonment at Auckland was the penalty imposed on William Frederick Major for failure to pay maintenance due in support of his wife. For being found drunk in St. Aubyn Street on Tuesday, a first offending inebriate wits convicted and discharged.
