ELTHAM NEWS.

GENERAL ITEMS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Eltham, Feb. 15. The weather in Eltham during the past week has been as wet and cold as that usually experienced in mid-win-ter, and the change to, more seasonable climatic conditions at the week-end was most welcome. A few weeks of warm weather will now have a very beneficial effect on dairying operations. At most of the local dairy factories milk supplies are still good, the make approximating only one vat less than of the “flush.”

Followers of summer sports will also welcome the improved weather conditions, the rains having recently caused the postponement of several tennis and bow-ling matches. The Eltham branch of the I’lunket Society intend to hold another mannequin parade one afternoon next month, to be followed by a cabaret in the evening. The proceeds will do much to assist in financing the work of the local branch of this valuable movement.. An excellent concert in aid of the Eltham Highland Pipe Baud contest fund was held last week at the Town Hall. Despite a somewhat meagre '‘house” it is hoped that the fund will benefit, to the extent of about £lO. Among those who contributed to a varied and pleasing programme were: —Misses D, Gower, A.° Ritchie and McCormick; Mesdames L. Nodder, A. 0. Hemingway, R. Anderson and Garden; and Messrs Dunean (Stratford), F. Silver, C. Harrison, J. Burns and J. Heesell.
