Speaking of the team, Mr. Wake told an interviewer that it was not fairly representative of the bowling strength ot the United Kingdom. Of the SO players selected this year from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, to play in the national championships, only three were able to make the trip. These were Mr. W. F. Wade, England, Mr. W. Crawford and Mr. W. F. Minto, Scotland. ’lf we had waited to get the best team we would never have left Eng land,” Mr. Wake said. “However, the team is a very good one, and we expect it to give a good account of itself in New Zealand.” The captain of the team is Mr. George Wright, of Kettering, England. He has represented England several times, and is immediate past-president of the English Bowling Association. He was the winner of the Midlan<l Counties pairs championship in 1911, 1912 and 1914, and runner-up in 1913. He was club champion of Kettering Lodge, and was in the winning rink at Hastings in 1919. and London S.C.B.A. in 1925, and winner of the 'Wellington open tournament singles in 192.5. He visited Canada in 1921 as vice-captain of the British*team. Perhaps the best bowler in the team is Mr. W. F. Wade, of Leicester, who has a fine record. He has reprcseiited England on three occasions and was English champion of 1923.
