MAGISTRATE’S COURT. DISTURBANCE LN SAIjOON. LIGHT FINE'S INFLICTED. (From Our Own Reporter.) Eltham, July 21. The Magistrate’s Court sat in Eltham to-day, Mr. A. M. Motvlem, S.M., presiding. Described by the magistrate as “a storm in a tea-cup,” a disturbance in P billiard saloon in High Street led to the appearance of F. J. Tuke and M. Russell charged with disorderly behaviour in a public place. Constable Townsend said that the two men visited the saloon slightly under the influence of liquor. A dispute arose over a game and resolved itself into a small light, and a ehaKenge on the part of one of the defendants to “take on the lot.” The police were sent for, but by the time the constable arrived the disturbers had disappeared. The defendants were each fined 10s (costs 7s). OTHER CASES. J. C. Murphy, of Normanby, who, on a recent Sunday morning, cut a corner in Eltham in an attempt to avoid a motor accident, was convicted without penalty and ordered to pay 7s costs. For tailing to register for military service J. L. Thompson and W. T. E. Woodney were convicted and ordered to pay costs only ’l2s. W. B. Guy and O. E. J. Macks were similarly dealt with, the costs in their case being 7s. On the information of tho Eltham county ranger, Thomas Joseph Joyce, who kept a dog over six months old Without registering it within the required time, was convicted and ordered to pay costs 15s. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil cases: J. H. Bodie v. R. W. Rogers, £1 4s 6d (costs £1 6s); Jane Groves v. Oscar Duginan, £ll as (costs £2 14s).
