COURSING.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. FINAL OF HARRIS CUP. The Harris Cup fixture, under the auspices of the New Plymouth Coursing Club, was completed at Okato on Saturday, and was won by W. Haskell’s Only a Commoner. Keen interest was taken in the competition, which was favoured with (better weather than the previous week, when it had to be postponed after four pairs of dogs had Fun. There was a large attendance of spectators and much assistance was given by the .farmers of the district. There was some splendid coursing throughout the afternoon, some of the courses being four or five miles long, while there was only one undecided course. Following are the details: First Round (completed).—Parkerville beat Mons Wave; My Own beat Dolly Vardon; Miss Dot beat All -Tips (n.s.). Second Round. —Royal Arms beat Full Cry; Only a Commoner beat Sultan; My Own ibeat Paskerville; Miss Dot a bye. Semi-final.—Only a Commoner beat Royal Arms; Miss Dot beat My Own. Final.—Only a Commoner, beat Miss Dot. Prize money was won as follows: Cup and £9 (first), presented by Mr. H. Harris (Okato). —W. Haskell’s Only a Commoner (New Plymouth). Runner-up.—E. W. Briscoe’s Miss Dot (Opunake) £4. L. Tichbon’s My Own (New Plymouth) and R. Low’s Royal Arms third (equal), £1 7s each. The next event will be the Booker Cup competition, to take place on July 4 and 6. This silver cup was presented to the clulb by Mr. Booker, and may be won outright twice in succession or three times at intervals.
