WAIKATO DIOCESE.
FORMATION NEXT YEAR. FUTURE OF TARANAKI. STATEMENT BY ARCHBISHOP. A cordial reception was accorded Archbishop Averill at Hamilton week. The Archbishop said he hoped <ef a diocese of Waikato formed and a new, bishop appointed on April 1 next. Hjl also hoped it would not be long befort another new diocese comprising TarM naki and Wanganui was formed. Wheft that eventuated, Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty would be taken away from the diocese of Waiapu, and joined to Wa{* kato. Dr. Averill said that the Auckland diocese had agreed to give £lB,OOO toward the Waikato diocese funds, whilst further funds would be available in thq Waikato and in Taranaki. The Arok« bishop assured the people of Hamilton that lie would always continue to take £ keen interest in their welfare.
