IN A DUG-OUT.
STOLEN GOODS FOUND. MOTHER AND SONS ARRESTED. Sydney, June 4. The boys are to appear at the Children’s Court. As a result of the arrests, it is believed that at least fifteen recent robberies in Melbourne suburbs will be cleared up. The underground dug-out was discovered in the back yard of a house in St. Kilda. It was about four feet deep and several yards in extent. In it were a quantity of goods which have since been identified by the victims of various robberies. The entrance of the dug-out was effectively concealed by a dog-kennel, which moved on hinges, and the cavern itself was topped by a lawn. Its presence was most deceptive and inside it was lit with electric light. The walls were properly “shored.” The police state that the robberies were cleverly planned and carried out. At times the crime reports had reached five a day, and the extensive operations led the police to beheve that an organised gang was operating,.
