OPENING OF FOOTBALL SEASON. STRATFORD v. WANGANUI. ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE VISIT. (From Our Own Reporter.) Stratford, April 7. Arrangements arc well in hand for the first football match of the season in Stratford, and the public are promised an interesting game when the Wanganui Technical High School Old Boys’ team meets the Stratfoijl seniors in Victoria Park on Easter Monday. The proceeds of the match are to go towards the gymnasium fund. The Wanganui fifteen will arrive on Easter Saturday evening by the mail train, and will be met by officials of the Stratford Club and citizens of the town. They will be entertained during the week-end, and if the weather permits will fie taken for a drive to the mountain. The match on Monday will start promptly at three o’clock, and the borough staff is at present engaged preparing the ground and erecting the goal posts. In the evening the visitors will be the guests of the home club at, a function in the Town Hall, when a grand public ball will be held. The Wanganui men return home on Tuesday morning.
