STEAMERS LAID UP. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Brisbane, Dec. 22. Owing to the dispute between the Brisbane branch of the Seamen’s Union and the owners the steamers Canberra, Cooma and Bombala are laid up. The position is serious on account of so many people having booked to travel by the steamers for the Christmas holidays. Of all the inter-State steamers which carry passengers to Queensland only one is now in commission.
