A statement issued by the Australasian Steamship Owner*’ Federation announce* that the shipowners are com* pelled to consider most seriously whether they should not lay up the whole of the fleets until the Government has enforced the lays of the country. The federation vigorously attacked the unions and crews for holding up certain vessels, criticised the judgment delivered by Mr. Justice Power* in the Arbitration Court yesterday, and declared that the court had proved unable to enforce its awards against the unions. ’ NO SETTLEMENT IN MELBOURNE. Melbourne, Dec. 23. No settlement has been reached in regard to the dispute concerning the steamer Clan Munroe. The conference between the Prime Minister and union officials reached a deadlock.
