ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY’S. . “DOROTHY VERNON”—TO-NIGHT. English literature has given to the world no more stirring romance than “Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall,” that touching story of the love that endured between the son and daughter of the warring houses of Rutland and Vernon. It is founded upon fact, and because it is founded upon fact, and gives an insight into the stirring times of Good Queen Bess, when passions were strong and heads rested lightly upon the shoulders of both men and women. Most people have read and enjoyed the book, but it remains for the splendid L'ni'ted Artist drama- which stars Mary Pickford to unfold the stirring story of the historical romance in all its completeness. Queen Elizabeth, in her imperious majesty; the 'beautiful, but illfated Mary Queen of Scots; Norfolk, Rutland, and Vernon, all play their part in this absorbing story of the dastardly attempt of England's Queen, which was foiled by the ready wit of beautiful Dorothy Vernon and the high courage of her lover, Sir John Manners. Interesting as are the historical passages, the real charm of the film lies in the love story of Sir John and Mistress Dorothy. which remained steadfast and true, in spite of Royal displeasure, angry parents, and locks, bolts and bars. The scenes are laid amongst the beautiful sylvan glades of Derbyshire, and the strongholds of Rutland Castle and Haddon Hall are reproduced with remarka'ble fidelity. “Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall” opens a three-night sea- , son at Everybody’s this evening.
