THE JUNCTION ROAD.
WORK OF RECONSTRUCTION. TRAFFIC TO BE DIVERTED. A special meeting of the Inglewood County Council was held yesterday. Present : Councillors R. Stewart (chairman), David Brown, J. Hunter, D. O’Sullivan, J. Grieve, J. Young and H. Jones. Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Laurent and Hard-ng. It was decided that the section of the Junction Road from Inglewood Borough to Egmont Village be regraded in accordance with the adopted plans, with a 14ft roadway as suggested by the Main Highways Council, and that application be made for a subsidy on' the costs of regrading. It was also resolved that all heavy traffic be diverted from this, section of the Junction Road to the Mountain Road North (via Lepperton) during the process of reconstruction. In reply to a question the county engineer expressed a hope. that it would be possible to maintain an open roadway for very light traffic, if weather conditions prove favourable. Payment of wages, etc., for Christmas, amounting to £1034 13s, was authorised.
