OPUNAKE NEWS.

POWER BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Opunake Power Board was held on Friday. Present: Messrs. C. A. Trott?i (chairman), J. S. Tosland, J P. Burton, T. H. H. Sinclair and J. Hickey. The deputation that attended meetings at Rahotu and Pungarehu (Afessrs. Trotter, Collins and Toslaiid) reported that the ratepayers wee willing to come into the Power Board’s' rating area, and that applications would be made in legal form by a canvass for signatures. The meeting empowered the clerk and chairman to proceed with the petition to the Government when sufficient signatures and the applications were in order.

The committee's action in .purchasing a horse for £35 was endorsed, as was also the clerk's action regarding the board’s account with the liquidator of the Transport Company. The engineer was empowered to in-let-ease the power of the tiansformer for street lighting, Mr. J. F. Phillips (Auroa) is to be informed that the board could not grant his application for ipower and light un-“ til a suitable understanding was arriv l ed at regarding the boundary roads between the Opunake Power Board and the Kaponga Power Board. The chairman gave notice of motion* to rescind the lesolutini taking over the engineer's dwelling. This was necessary as tlie dwelling had not been included in the loan transfer when the Power Board took over the electric scheme from the Town Board. The clerk was insti’i’cittl to write to Mr. Moss (engineer of the K.ipongii Board) and the chairman of the Awatuna Dairy Factory to arrange a conference with Mr. Crowley (engineer of the Opunake Board) r-gtirding the supply of power to the Tnungotoro dairy factory.

The Opunake Harbour Board is making very good progress with the construction works. Two cranes, two log haulers used for stou? vsork, and a lecombtive arb now under steam.
