CANADAY'S TARIFF.
AUSTRALIAN PROPOSAL. Hr Telegraph—Proas Assn.—Copyright. Ottawa, Dec. 11. > Australia appears also to be considering preferential tariff revision resembling the New Zealand 75 per cent, of Lome labour provision, and thus increasng Canada's anxiety. Official opinion here is inclined to believe that Stich an increase will considerably modify, if not cancel the advantages of the recently concluded trade agreement. Meanwhile the Canadian Government has pioposed a compromise at 50 per cent, to Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Massey has just cabled saying that the proposal will have the Government’s most earnest consideration, but that he preferred to consult the Australian Government before giving a definite reply.
