ACCIDENT AT WELLINGTON. NO ONE SERIOUSLY HURT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Dec. 13. A collision occurred between a crowded suburban train and a goods train engaged in shunting operations at the Davis Street crossing shortly before 8 o’clock this morning. The impact was fairly severe, but. apart from damage to the engine and several carriages, the consequences were not serious. One carriage was derailed and a few passengers received scratches, but not one was seriously hurt. The train was bringing workers to the city and large numbers were standing on the platform. Had the brake.s not been promptly applied the collision might have resulted in serious lons of life. It is stated that the snunting train was on the wrong line, and, owing to a curve in the line, the driver of the in-

coming passenger train was unable to avert a collision. An inquiry will be held.
