INGLEWOOD NEWS.
CATHOLIC FUNCTIONS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood, Dec. 12. Owing to the very unfavourable weather yesterday afternoon, the attendance at the town Lail on the occasion of the Convent School’s annual concert was only fair. However, those who did attend were well repaid, as the items contributed both by the adults and children were much appreciated. In the evening a euchre party and dance was held in the Town Hall in aid of the Convent Queen (Miss V. Burke). The winners at cards were: Ladies, Mrs. Grant 1, Mrs. Murfitt 2; gentlemen, Mr. Hill 1, Mr. -Dodunski 2. The two first prizes were’ Christmas haras. The floor was in perfect order for the dancers, while the music suipplied by Mr. Murfitt was enjoyed by all. Mr. Leslie and Mr. Higgs acted as M.C.’s.
WORK OF THE BAND. On Sunday afternoon the band will give an open-air sacred concert in the band rotunda, and as ample seating arrangements have been made no doubt there will be a good attendance. The band expects to give several similar concerts during the coming months, and will take up collections to strengthen them financially. At the recent meeting of the Borough Council it was decided to subsidise the band to the extent of £25 per year.
