Farmers-Dairymen-Graziers. RATIONAL MANURING. Phosphates versus Phosphates and Potash. Read the testimony of leading Farmers in TaranaKi and Bay of Plenty. “ Mr. W. Bendali, of New Plymouth, says that he sowed three cwt. of Slag and 1 cwt. of Kainit per acre and the crop of Hay was phenomenal, in fact the Clovers, Trefoils, ate., were so prominent, he had quite a difficulty in cutting hi* crop and hi* only complaint was that his crop was too heavy. Thi* year he has ordered 3 tons of Kainit." “ Mr. Herbert Sampson, of Bell Block, top-dressed four acres with Slag and two acres with Slag and Kainit, putting the Kainit on the highest part of his paddock. The two acres treated with Kainit were far the heavier crop, and Mr. Sampson, like Mr. Bendali, complained that the crop waa too heavy and had trouble in cutting it. He also ba* ordered three ton* of Kainit this season.’’ Mr. J. Hughes, of Matata, writes “ 7ith reference to the paddock I top-dressed with 3 cwt. Superphosphate and 1 cwt. 30% Potash Manure; thia, as you are aware, produced an abnormal crop, which I fed off. and then cut for Hay, and could have cut a second crop. The crop, which I did cut, gave a return of 4 tons per acre, clovers being particularly luxuriant, while the adjoining half of the paddock, which received the same amount of Superphosphate and no Potash, did not grow enough grass to cut. This demonstrates the huge benefit of using Potash in connection with Superphosphate for top-dressing land. To illustrate the heaviness of the crop, one of my neighbour* undertook to cut it with his mower, but he was unable to do so, and had to give the job up, and I had great difficulty in getting the hay cut. With a new machine I had to have three men to pull the hay back from where the machine cut it so as to enablc'the next cut to be made. A* a result of the good return given by the use of Potash I want you to send me tons of the same Manure for top-dressing this Autumn. POTASH is obtainable from all Fertilizer Merchants. POTASH PAYS!
