One of the most attractively illustrated numbers yet issued by the New Zealand Sporting and Dramatic Review is the current issue with its wide diversity of subjects gleaned from the best local and overseas photographic sources. The centre pages always arrest keen attention, and this week’s array embraces an artistic selection of society, stage and cinema celebrities, fashion novelties, boy scouts’ rally and seaside rendezvous. The Avondale Jockey Club’s spring meeting is represented in a notable series of striking snapshots of leading events, and occupies four full pages that will be of particular interest. The Wanganui fixture is dealt with in an animated fashion, and the Waikato Hunt is also depicted. On the links at Middlemore gives another interesting set of photographs jn connection wiin the New Zealand championships. Remarkable photographs of the Boy Scouts’ Thanksgiving at Wembley occupy prominent space, while another fine set that will appeal to all is devoted to juvenile stars of the screen. A review of warships by the King ■makes an impressive picture, and the Cowes regatta and Women’s Olympiad form another imposing section. Amongst a host of up-to-date miscellany are the Avondale totalizator fire, launching of new ferry boat at Takapuna.
