CHINESE SOCCER TEAM. TOUR ENDS AT BLENHEIM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 26. The Chinese soccer tour will be concluded with a game at Blenheim to-morrow, the final fixture at Wellington having been abandoned. The tour willl result in a profit to the association of probably £lOOO. “Admirer” writes as follows in a Wellington paper of a well-known ex-Taranaki player: “Percy Hickey, the fast, tricky Poneke wing three-quarter, is an ideal type of ringer and possesses the requisite qualities—brain, speed and weight. On several occasions this season the speed merchant has delighted the spectators with his sensational runs and by scoring some really great tries. An Instance of his scoring ability was witnessed In the Poneke-Berhampore game last week. Receiving the ball about thirty yards from the line, he side-stepped and fended off half a dozen tacklers to score behind the posts —one of the best tries scored on the park. Hickey was a member of the 1922 All Blacks that toured New South Wales and has represented the cow province on several! occasions, playing a great game in the team that drew •with the Springboks in 1921. There to no doubt Hickey 1s the best three-quarter in Wellington, and a player of his experience and ability is a decided acquisition to the Poneke Club. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hickey, of Kaponga.
