ENTERTAINMENTS.

“GUSHING BORES.” EMPIRE THEATRE NEXT MONDAY. The amusing comedy “Gushing Bores,” which is the subject of much speculative comment in New Plymouth, lends to those who know its real obpect nothing but the most intense enjoyment in its clean and witty dialogue, and here cannot be the slightest doubt about the ability of the actors who take the various parts in this brilliant little ptey. A well-known critic who was invited to see a rehearsal of this play the other mght remarked that the company had something really good. They have the local colour and they have the best little comedy that New Zealand has seen for many a long day. He also paid the members of the company a pretty compliment by saying that the acting was certainly so natural that he wanted to break in all the time and take a part himself. This is really true. There is certainly no doubt that “Gushing Bores” has one wondering all the time just who is the villian of the piece. The amusing situations in which Mr. Landstring finds himself awakens a curious feeling of sympathy in the audience for this weird visitor from the underworld, who favours New Plymouth with a visit during the oil boom. The various visitors to Mr. Landstring’s office during the momentous morning on which ho throws the Kiankakionka project open to the public form a procession of the most amazing scenes imaginable. The interviews are really amusing, instructive, and no member of the audience can guess the denouement, that is, of course, right up to the climax. The management of the New Plymouth Comedy Company are offering ’to any person who can guess who is the re-ai villian up to the test five minutes of the play the sum of £lO. Come and try it yourselves. Plan now open at Collier’s warehouse. Showing on Monday. 1 uesday and Wednesday next at the Empire Theatre.
