COLLAPSE OF PATIENT.

DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. James Shanahan, aged 36, died in the Christchurch Hospital to-day while under an anaesthetic. He was admitted to have some teeth extracted, but collapsed as he was being injected with the anaesthetic. Shanahan was a member of the main body of the N-Z.E.F., serving on Gallipoli and in Egypt. Prior to the war he was engaged as a clerk with the Napier Harbour Board and latterly had been employed by the Christchurch City Council. He leaves a widow and an infant son. He was a son of J. S. Shanahan, owner and licensee of the Foresters’ Arms Hotel.
