GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE By Telegraph Press Aa-wclation. Wellington, Last Night.’ A deputation from the Mothers’ Help Division in Wellington to-day asked the Prime Minister for support for the work which now occupies helpers in assisting mothers of small ehiinren. Some years ago the Government made a grant ot £lOO, but thia was withdrawn during the financial stringency. The society considered that though the work at present was only carried on in Wellington, it was of a national character. Mr. Massey agreed that the society was doing excellent work in < quarter where it was urgently needed. He promised to recommend the Inclusion of a giant in the Supplementary Estimates, but he could nofc tay yet whaF~ the amount would be.
