WESTERN PARK CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Western Park Cricket Club was held at New Plymouth last night, Mr. A. C. Lawrey presiding in the absence of the president (Mr. F. Bayley). The third annual report stated: — "Membership.—The membership of the club during the past, season was as follows: Annual seniors, 10; casual seniors, 6; annual juniors, 13.’ From this it will be seen, that we were unable to enter more than one team in the senior grade and one in the junior grade. Both teams, whilst not winning the championship in either section, acquited themselves well, and we are confident in saying that they played the game in the best spirit throughout.

"Finance.—The balance-sheet does not show a very healthy position, but we are glad to report that when the balance of subscriptions Is received we shall be able to liquidate small debts pow owing. In this connection the outgoing committee would recommend to th? incoming committee to take a firm stand ■in the matter of the payment of subscriptions, and to refuse to allow any member to participate in any game unless his subscription has been paid before the commencement of his second game in the season. Tills should obviate the trouble your committee has experienced ip the past, and should help to improve our finances considerably.

"Representative Matches.—The senior team had four of its members in the representative teams which played against Canterbury, Wellington and New South Wales, and they acquitted themselves well. "We regret to report that through his departure from New Plymouth our esteemed president, |Mr. F. Bayley, has tendered his resignation. We would wish to record our appreciation of his help and generosity to the club in the past.” The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers for Uie ensuing year were elected a» follows : I’/esident, Mr. Joe Browrj; vicepresidents, Messrs. F. J. Hill, V. Elliot, J. Gibson, J. W. Boon and J. L. Mason; club captain. Mr. H. J. Grayson; vice-captain, Mr. H. Qulekfall; joint secretaries and treasurers, Messrs. J. Prendergast and A. C. Lawrey; hon. auditor, Mr. E. L. Humphries; management committee, the club captain, vice-captain, joint secretaries, and Messrs. G. Morgan. W. Bullard, and Vai. Duff, with power to add; delegates to association, Messrs. R. B. MacDonald, R. L. Machu and W. R. Wright. Subscriptions for the coming season were fixed at 35s for members over 18 years of age on November 1 and 25s for those under 18 on that date, reducible by 5s if paid before the second game. Comment was made on the necessity for building up Hie junior teams, and It was decided to send an invitation to the West End school to supply two members for.the junior team. These members will not be required to pay subscriptions, and it is thought that the innovation will do much to foster Interest In the elub amongst boys attending the West End school. The following new members were elected: — Messrs. Anderson, Crawshaw, Case, Thompson, Wright, Morgan, Heibner, Watters, Alsweiller, Houghton, Jackson and Williams, The chairman congratulated the members on the enthusiasm shown at the meeting and the excellent prospects there were for the club during the coming season, tKe meeting closing with hearty votes of thanks to the press, the chairman and Messrs.
