Nosworthy to-day stated that the most stringent precautions were being taken at all New Zealand ports to guard against the introduction of foot and mouth disease. All the regulations empowering the department were being strictly enforced and there was no intention or relaxing them in any particular. Importations from affected countries were, of course, prohibited, but actually it would be more correct to say the importations of stock were at present entirely suspended.
