Potatoes, £4 15s to £5, Onions, £6 10s. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. Christchurch, March 5. At the Addington market prices were easier al. round to-day except for store sheep. The store sheep yarded was much bigger than last week, there being heavy supplies from Poverty Bay, Nelson, Kaikoura, and Otago, whilst the Chathams and the West Coast also forwarded some. Prices recovered by up to 2s for good ewes, and from Is to Is 6d for lambs. The bulk of the yarding were ewes. Considering the size of the yarding It was a good sale, tire brightness being partly accounted for by good rains In several of the country districts. Specially good 2-tooth halfbred ewes made 455; good 2-tooth halflbred ewes 34s 3d to 38s; good three-quarter-ibred 2-itooth ewes 32s 6d; good 2-tooth Rotnney cross ewes, 325; good 4, 6 and 8-tooth Romney cross ewes, 29s 6d to 31s; lower conditioned 4,6, and 8-tooth Romney cross ewes, 23s 6d to 27s 9d; 4, 6, and 8-t'ooth -halfbred ewes, 31s 6d to 34e; 4 and 5-year-old halfbred ewes, 24s 9d to 27s lOd; failing mouthed halfbred ewes, 22s to 24s 3d; low-conditioned and inferior three-quarter-bred sound and failing-mouthed ewes, 18s 6d to 235; aged ewes, 6s 6d to 14s 6d: good (forward Jambs, 21s 6d to 23s sd; ordinary, 17s 6d to 21s; medium, 15s 6d to 17s 3d; small and inferior, Ils to 14s 6d. Good 4 and 6-tooth wethers, 23s to 25s 7d; ordinary, 19s to 22s 3d; inferior, 18s to 18s 6d.

Fat Lambs.—6ooo were yarded. Prices were back by Is to Is 6d per head. Lambs under 421 b made 10’Ad per lb, overweights 9%d and lightweights 9%d. Extra prime lambs realised 375, and a few special to 38s lid; prime, 30s 6d to 345; medium, 27s to 30s; light, 23s to 26s 6d.

Fat Sheep—A slightly larger yarding and an easing in values of from is to 2s per head, ewes being ■principally affected. Exporters were not operating so freely as last week. Extra prime wethers made 38s 9d; prime, 313 6d to 3£b 6d; medium, 27s 6d to 31s; 'light, 24s to 275. Extra prime ewes, 34s Id; prime, 25s 6d to 295; medium, 22s 6d to 258; light, 20s to 225; old, 16s to 19s. Fat Cattle.—A very heavy yarding of 600, Including 85 from the North Island. Values were down by 20s per head, best beef making from 28s to 31s per 1001 b. There were some passings. Extra prime steers realised- £l6 10s; prime, £ll to £l4: medium, £8 10s to £lO 15s; light, £5 10s to £8 ss. Extra prime heifers, £9; prime, £6 to £8 ss; ordinary, £3 10s to £5 10s. Extra prime cows, £9; prime, £5 10s to £7 10s: medium £3 5s to £5.

Vealers.—Good stuff sold well. Runners made £4 12s 6d; vealers. £2 10s to £3 ss; good calves, 25s to 455.

Store Cattle.—A large entry and a hard sale. Four and 5-year-old steers, £4 to £5 4s; 2-yfear steers. £3 -to £4; yearlings, 15s to 255; 2-year heifers, £2 Ill’s: yearling to 18-month heifers, 12s 6d to 255; good cows, £ 1 5s to £ 1 15s.

Fat Pigs.—Pork sold firmly, but bacon was easier. Choppers made £2 10s to £5 12s; light baconers, £3 5s to £3 10s: heavy, £3 15s to £4 7s 6d; extra heavy, £5 (average price per Lb 6d to 6%d) : light porkers, £2 10s to £2 15s; heavy, £3 to £3 4s (average* price per lb, 8d to B%d).

Store Pigs.—A fair demand. Weaners 10s t> 17s; ssniall stores. 18s to 245: medium stores. 30s to 355; large stores, 50s; sows In pig, £2 to £4 7s 6d.

BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. A GOOD DEMAND GENERALLY. Dunedin, March 5. Cattle were forward in large numbers at the Burnside sale to-day, and the sale throughout was good. Fat Cattle.—The entry totalled 351 head, /compared with 255 last week. The quality all round was good, some prime bullocks and god quality heifers being in evidence. There was an over-supply, and as a result prices dropped to the extent of 10s to 15s per head for bullocks and 20s to 30s for cows. Prime handy-weight bullocks were worth 27s 6d t> 28s 6d per 1001 b, prime heavy-weight bullocks to 26s 6d, unfinishel bullocks to 255, prime heifers to 225, and light heifers and cows 17s 6d to 20s. Extra prime heavyweight bullocks sold rtp to £l4 10s, prime £ll to £l2 10s, medium £9 to £lO, light and unfinished sorts £6 10s to £7 10s. Extra prime heavy-weight heifers sold at up to £8 10s, prime £6 10s to £7, medium £5 to £5 10s, light and aged £3 to £4. Fat Sheep.—A large entry. numbering 2345 head, compared with 2412 last week. The yarding included a good many ewes, many of which were not well finished. A fair supply of prime wethers was also offered. Prices improved to the extent of 2s per head for prime wethers and Is per head for all classes of ewes. It was the best sale held this year so far. Prime handy--weight wethers sold at from to 6%d per lb, prime heavyweights to 6d, prime heavy ewes to sd, prime handy-weight ewes to s’Ad, aged ewes 4d to 4>Ad. Extra prime heavy-weight wethers sold up to 47s 9d, prime 38s to 445, medium 29s 9d to 32s 9d. Extra prime heavy-weight ewes sold at up to 355, prime 29s to 30s 6d, medium 23s to 265.

Fat Lambs.—A large yarding, numbering 1171 heads, compared with 1150 last week. The entry was of mixed quality. Although tlte competition lacked keenness, prices were firm. Exporters were cautious operators. Prime handy-weight iambs sold at up to lO’/id per lb. heivy-weights lOd to 10%d, and unfinished 9d to 9y 2 d. Extra prime lambs sold at up to 37s 6d, prime 30s to 32s 3d, medium 26s to 28s, light and unfinished sorts 16s to 20s.

Store Cattle.—A big yarding of 400 head, winch included animals of all descriptions. Two lines of well-bred bullocks in splendid condition claimed attention at satisfactory prices. Four and five-year-old bullocks made from £8 to £8 ss, three and four-year-old up to £5 15s, and medium weights from £4 5s to £4 10s. Several pens of splendid cows sold at reduced rates, and a number of well-bred mixed yearlings were disposed of for £2 2s per head. A large number of young cattle in backward condition were offered, but were practically unsaleable. Dairy Cattle.—A larger entry than usual, about 10 head being offered. The quality was up to tlie standard of late yearlings, and us there was a steady demand a good sale resulted. Best cows sold at up to £l2 7- 6d, prime heifers from £9 10s to £lO, medium £4 £5, and aged cows from £2 10s to £3.

Fat Pigs.—A medium yarding, which consisted mostly of porkers. There was a brisk demand for baconers, and prices showed an advance of fully 7s fid per head, both for prime baconers and porkers. To-day’s values are one a basis of about 7d per lb for baconers and about per lb for porkers.
