Seven days without rain in the month of November is quite a record for Taranaki. That has been the experience during the past week, with every prospect of the fine weather continuing. Ordinarily this “drought” would occasion concern amongst dairymen, but the ground had been previously well soaked, and grass is everywhere running to waste. There has been no checking its growth. Even during the past week the heavy dews have kept the grass moving. The fine stretch has enabled farmers to do a lot of necessary work on the land. The season started none too brightly, but it promises to be the most successful experienced for many a long day. The East End Committee are having success with their summer evening dances, the second of the series of which was held at the East End pavilion on Thursday evening.
