Several thousand spectators witnessed the “Soccer” match between New Zealand and South Maitland district at Maitland. The locals did most of the attacking, but the visitors’ strong defence kept them out. The half-time scores were: Maitland one. New Zealand ni The second half was brighter and evenly contested. McGroary scored for Maitland and Brownlee for New Zealand. the final scores being: Maitland 2. New Zealand 1.
