“RED” OBJECTIVE.
AUSTRALIAN LABOR’S POLICY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 30, 9.5 p.m. Sydney, April 30. A joint conference between delegates of the Australian Labor Party and representatives of the unions reaffirmed the ‘‘red,” or socialistic, objective adopted at the Brisbane conference in 1921. It was resolved that a plank be inserted in the Labor platform making it a criminal offence for outsiders to take the place of strikers during a strike, punishable by imprisonment up to six months; that the registration of localist unions formed since the 1917 maritime strike be cancelled; and that members of trades unions while locked out receive full maintenance. Theso decisions were remitted to the annual conference to be held in June.
