The search for the missing man on the mountain still continues and several local residents are assisting. Some of these returned late on Saturday night and reported that their search had been without result.

The schools of the district reassembled on Thursday’ last, the pupils appearing to be pleased to meet again. At our local school, several changes in the staff have taken place. linson is now first assistant and Miss Farquhar second assistant. The programme committee of the Kaponga Atheletic Chib has adopted a very’ comprehensive list of events for its sports on March 8. Novelty events of an entirely new character, which have not been advertised yet, are to be a feature of the meeting. Kaponga sports had a day out on Saturday. Our senior cricket team secured a three point win over Manaia and our tennis team defeated the Manaia B. team by’ 20 sets to 4 sets. In justice*to the Manaia players it should be mentioned that the change from grass to asphalt courts considerably hampered their play. The weather, marvellous to relate, held fine all day. The wedding of Miss Ethol Walsh of Auckland, to Mr. Roy’ Pepperell, of Awatuna took place in St Mark's Church, Kaponga, on Wednesday last. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Pepperel left for New Plymouth where the honeymoon is to be spent.

We have noticed several excellent crops of japanese millet which the owners are now feeding to their cows. The favourable'season has been a great help to this crop which evidently requires plenty’ of ’ warmth. Tt throws a tremendous quantity of rich, sweet, feed, and is evidently going to be a distinct gain in our list of forage crops.
