Gordon and Gotch, through the agency of the “8.K.” bookshop, New Plymouth, we have received the undermentioned magazines for review: The Detective Aiagazine is the title of a.new fortnightly, No. .1 of which has just reached us. It is full of detective fiction and articles on crime and criminals and is cleverly illustrated. Fiction is supplied by Octavus Roy Cohen, Austin Phillips, Albert Dorrington. Edgar Wallace and many others, whilst articles are contributed by Lord Justice Atkin, Sir Basil Thomson, ExChief Detective Inspector Drew, Dr. Bernard Spilsbury etc. The Detective, which will be sold at Is a copy, will soon establish itself as A popular favourite. The Green Magazine, December 19, contains a long instalment of the boxing serial by T. C. Wownall. “Thus Gods are Alade.” There are stories of sport and adventure by Fred. Al. Whitey Leslie Beresford, James Barr and many others. The contents of the Green will appeal to all red-blooded men and women and it justifies its slogan "The Aiagazine with a punch in it.” The Violet Aiagazine, November 17, is a particularly good number, containing many charming stories of love and romance, each one a real gem of its kind and every one lavishly and effectively illustrated. Two interesting items are "Ray Hawke—Shop Detective” and •“Tales of a Fortune Teller,” whilst a brilliant new serial by Margaret Peterson “The Witch Doctor” commences in this issue.
