S p.m. Paris, Feb. 1 The successful progress in the reconstruction of Austria under the auspices of the League of Nations was emphasised by all the speakers at a meeting of the council-of the League. Lord Balfour described the League’s ' work in this regard au the greatest constructive effort so far made to extricate Europe from economic chaos. ■He appealed to investors to subscribe to the Austrian loan. Following an appeal by the Austrian Chancellor, th? Italian, French, and Czecho-Slovakian representatives announced their willingness to conclude commercial treaties with Austria. [Reuter.
